| After 40 years working in local government in Victoria, Northern Territory and Queensland; Bernie offers a diverse range of management services.
He was born in Heathcote, Victoria, and went to school in Heathcote and Bendigo. He completed his local government studies in at RMIT, Melbourne. He is married to Wendy and they have a son Bryn and a daughter Kate. Both children have spent most of their lives in the Torres Strait. Bernie has appreciated living in remote places and so far they have included Yulara (Ayers Rock) NT, Mataranka NT, Bathurst Island NT, Mornington Island Qld and Thursday Island Qld. Bernie has worked in 3 Victorian, 3 Northern Territory and 3 Queensland Councils. He has a passion for improving the quality of life for people who live in remote Australia. Thus he has been involved in the implementation of many projects including housing, sewerage, airports, sports complexes, child care centres, libraries, foreshore beautification project, pre school centres, infant health centres, rural transaction centre, community store, water supplies, outdoor gymnasium, aged people day centre and housing, new council office, residential and industrial subdivisions, swimming pools, meals on wheels, recycling and environment programs, tourism promotion and development, etc. Bernie and family have thoroughly enjoyed their 6 years Torres Strait experience. Through ongoing work assignments Bernie looks forward to continuing contact with Torres Strait, NPA (Cape York) and Far North Qld communities. Bernie is quite willing to discuss all possibilities and enthusiastically looks forward to providing professionalism and excellence in delivery of any community or local government project.
